The liter is a metric unit of capacity (or volume), defined as being equal to 1,000 cubic centimetres. The pint, by contrast, is an old measurement of capacity from the British imperial measurement system. It’s also used in the U.S. customary measurement system, where there are in fact two measurements known as a pint. But given these variations on the pint, just how many pints are in a liter?

The number of pints in a liter depends on which definition of a pint you take.
In the British imperial system a pint is equal to about 568 milliliters. So that means that, in this case, one liter is the equivalent of about one and three quarter imperial pints.
The most commonly used U.S. customary measure of the pint is the liquid pint, which is equal to about 463 milliliters. So in this case, one liter is the same as about 2.16 pints.
The other, less common, pint measure used in the U.S. customary measurement system is the dry pint. This is the equivalent of about 551 milliliters. So for this measurement, one liter is about 1.8 pints. That is, just over one and three quarter pints. This similar to the case for the imperial pint, just a little more.
